I dont geddit...
poncy students playing bike polo? even if that judgment is true, its a lifestyle choice...that still involves the object we all love. BIKES!
For me, slamming single speeders is a form of elitism in itself. Whatever anyone says it is a pure version of cycling.
Its like an F1 fan slamming a TC or Indy Car fan - different discipline, same love of a sport/lifesyle.
I dont love SS bikes, I dont even own one, but I occasionally find the idea appealing.
Quite a few ss'rs flew past me on the London 2 Brighton this year, and I wasnt exactly dragging my heels... thats hardcore fitness in my book.
I found myself thinking '' It would be great to be fit enough to ride like that ''
Are SS bikes really a fashion statement? Time will probably tell, but I suspect it could just be like that enthusiastic chap suggested on BBC4 the other night - Cycling is back. Its bigger and better and never been more popular.
Thats a win win situation all round.
