Mowgli

Old School Hero
Hi,

I've just bought an old steel frame off ebay, and scavenged some bits of a broken Marin to put together the contraption below. I'm waiting for some new wheels in the post, just put some spare 700c ones on to see what it looks like.

Can anyone offer any clues as to what it is, or how old, and possibly how much it might be worth? Claims to be a Specialized, but has had a recent respray.

Cheers

Gareth

Seat post is 25.5mm (maybe 26mm - I don't have calipers!

Is Bromwich/Overbury any good? Not heard of them before.

Cheers

Just noticed it has 'Reynolds' stamped on the outside of the rear dropout. Suggests it's def not a specialized?!

Also got a number on the bottom bracket - 7 9107

Any thoughts? It has fillet brased headtube and top tube, lugged bottom bracket, and a wierd lug thing on the seat tube. Seems like it would be pretty distinctive.

I do not think it is a late 80s bromwich as the brazing is tig rather than fillet, not smoothed off like Jim did. Also rear brake fitting is not a tube bracing.

What are brake guides under the bottom bracket like?

General frame layout does look similar though.

Interesting that the tubes are stamped with reynolds, not many are, might mean it is an older frame.

Ironhorse???

don't think it's a specialized though.

update...

or how about something by Joe Murray...like a VooDoo Bizango...then again it wouldn't have a canti...and Voodoo isn't old enough to have some of that frame's touches...hmmm

I'm curious to see the result of this

Thanks for the discussion, regardless though, it has now been sold for the mighty sum of £100 (built up). I can possibly get it back if it turns out to be mega valuable, but I doubt that somehow...
