ideas for saving fuel???

I have fitted a vacuum gauge to my car, plumbed it in right under the MAP sensor and yes it helps with diagnostics, but because it is of the type that that serves more as a econometer with all the pretty colours, it up on top of my dashboard can be seen and when the needle is showing low vacuum indicating poor economy, it is surprising what little movement is needed on reducing the gas pedal results in the same power, but better economy. So when I am not in a rush, I drive to the vacuum and get superior economy compared to what I get when I drive normally.

What I have fitted;

and it was £8 delivered off ebay.

i spend 40 quid a week on fuel. i found out that i can get the train which is 2 miles from my house and another 3 miles from the destination to my work. if i buy a monthly season ticket it works out at 20 quid a week and i get to ride my trek every day so from monday :D

I ride to work 3 days a week now saving about a tenner, reason i dont ride the other 2 days is ive had my employment contract re written to give me two 3pm finishes so i can get away early to go ride my bike. My boss hates me with a passion now :lol:

i miss my daily cycle to work, i was in great shape then too, 100-150 mile a week in all weathers then still go to the gym after work!

past 11yrs working out of a transit van soon put a stop to that :shock: plus we stick a good £200 a week in diesel in it!

:shock: At least he had a sign on his back :D
I use about 40 quid of diesel every 10-14 days on a 20 min each way drive to work. If I used the bus it would be nearly 15 quid per day 2 changes and nearly 3 1/2 hrs traveling time. :roll:

I'll go with the car.
