sold a car part over the internet. asked for paypal gift, buyer paid extra and paid normal paypal. he needed the part in a hurry but my courier let me down.

ran to post office at 5pm and posted it off.

guess what. he says it hasnt arrived. guess what else. i cant find the proof of postage.

£100 down the drain.

learn from my mistake people

Ditto the above.. how long's it been??

Delays in the postal system are not your fault.. you did your best

And keep looking for that proof of posting, it'll be in the last place you look ;)

this time last week. sent out first class though

Don't send a refund yet then. Ordered some big bits which were sent 1st class and they took a week and a bit to arrive. I checked the date of postage stamp too. Could just be a delay. Oh and keep looking for the postage proof.

surely if you were that 'desperate' you could speak to the person who runs cctv at post office to determine the exact time you went in, then, ask if they have it logged at the post office (which thy should, in theory) :? then request another receipt

Ask the buyer to check with his local sorting office...chances are a delivery has been attempted?
You did put a return addy on the packet?

Parcel, is 3 to 5 days iirc. and you need to discount Sunday and Monday as days.
EIDT it's 3 days but not guaranteed, so sat, tue, wed, so only on the 5th day now which has been known.

but repeat manta... if it's worth £100, then signed for, signed for, signed for., it's only 75p more.

P.S. when do you want to put some oil in and pump up your MAG20's ?
I've just setup may MAG30's for me*

*(aka I automatically put 5wt in and not 7.5wt)

Rule of thumb. Value > £41 - use courier, or pay for extra cover.

Also, as mentioned, getting proof of postage, even just them writing house number and postcode on the receipt is essential. However, considering the average courier cost is £6.99+vat, and they collect from your house, I always use this for anything remotely worth much.

I very much doubt the post office will a, be bothered to check their cctv for the sake of my incompetance and b, that it would provide enough proof for them to issue another receipt.

I did have it booked with a courier but they didn't show. Hence going to the post office.
