Hi all,

Just made a rash purchase on eBay and looking for someone to put my mind at ease!! :?

Bought an Ibis Szazbo frame (see link below) and wondered if anyone has had any experience with Ibis bikes, or even better, with a Szazbo?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... :IT&ih=025

I have heard of them, but i have no idea what they are like to ride or what they are really worth. Worried i paid too much, and that it might be not as good quality a ride as it looks like it might be.

Not sure of the age, but it must be from between 1995 and 1999 (as suggested by my initial research).

Many thanks,

Drew :)

Hi,

Looks like you have done ok to me!

The ride should be nice with a short travel xc fork. As the frame is unified the ride will take a bit of getting used to. Rare and good looking sus frame, all good here. :D

Ride it enjoy it!

Cheers,Al

it went for a lot more than I thought it would, whole bikes have gone for less than that in the last year... they were produced for only 3 years IIRC, the first gen ones have the handjob canti hanger on them, and were designed to be used with the 95 Judy DH, they had quite a lot of travel for the time.

Ive always wanted a red first gen one, but Ive never seen a small.

A very well made, rare and desirable bike all in all.

My red 95 has an ALPS 4 so I'd place yours later.

They have 5" at the rear, but aimed at XC. The 96 brochure is in the Manufacturers section IIRC. Prices do bounce around on these but that looks like new. I'm still pulling the parts togther for my rebuild so not ridden it yet but by all accounts they're fantastic.

Szazbo

You will need to get a 28.6mm seatpost, or at least a shim. Just mentioned it 'cause the ebay listing didn't give that detail.

Thanks folks,

I may have paid a little bit much for it, but i guess it's in A1 nick....

Sounds like it should be a good ride.

A 28.6mm seatpost doesn't sound like it will be easy to find. May have to go with the shim option.

Cheers,

Drew :D

No doubt you'll be hiding this one from the missus down in my workshop Drew?
Do you need my 'safe' address?
Good find by the way!

  Might see if u can save my bacon with a little storage space Si if that's ok?

Wife would castrate me if she found out, and i don't imagine that to be a nice experience :o

Drew

Ps. It's being sent to Jamie's (Toons) work address. I feel ashamed of myself. However, thanks for the offer!!
