Dont knock puma's they are fun little cars and cheap to run BUT most are going rusty now :-( and they really need a nice turbo'd 2.0 in them ;-)

WD :D

In my experience ford = rust......sad but true

Yes - the pumas and the ka's seemed to be the last of the really rusty ones :-(

They even put carpet in the inner arches of the puma to help it along ...

They would collect a massive amount of grit / dirt / salt over a very short period of time in winter (i.e. a week) :?

The water meter had a orgasm everytime I washed that car

They were not all that bad, I have used them as well as many other off roaders and would put them up there when it comes to on and off road use.

If I was off road for more than 40% of the time it would be a Defender if I was going the Landy route again, but they are not as comfortable and capacious.

Sure, they had reliability problems, but without that where would the charm of British made be?

I guess some must have been ok... just none that I have ever encountered ;)

Capacious?? The 2 or 3 I've ridden in have been cramped up front, worse in the back and load space not as big as Jap LWB 4x4's..
Useless for shooting out of the rear side windows too.. the fronts weren't that great either :?

And they don't handle ditches too well (it wasn't anything to do with me.. honesy guv )...

I could never agree that they are as good as their equivalent in other marques, worth the value they hold so well or worth the hassle of owning one..
Only going by the ones I know about personally and the ones former owners have told me about..

Defender is a different kettle of fish entirely..

Moot anyway, mm didn't buy a Disco..

Capacious compared to the Defender...

They don't hold their value so well.

I have never bought a Disco to keep, only to sell. They are generally not up to scratch alongside the alternatives, but bargains are there to be had.

Had a few Defenders, but when it came to getting something to see me through this winter until I could locate another G Wagen I got a Pajero Wagon. I love the Jap 4x4s. Patrols, Fourtraks, Troopers and the Suzukis all good. Land Cruiser is the dogs as far as I am concerned.

My dad was a Landy man (amongst others) right up until he drove the next farm's Toyota Land Cruiser. He still has his 90s FJ80. Only comes out for the odd trip into the hills, to take a sheep to the vet and for the snow.I think it only has 70k on it now, and it is minty.

Good cars Freelanders, I have had the pleasure of driving my mates a few times and it coped well in the weather back in November/December.

Good thing you don't deal furniture MM, with that high load area and restricted height. :)

12 to the gallon round the town is why cyfa :x :x
So.

Don't drive it around town, you have bikes, remember?

very good neil.......

It would do maybe 21 on a run and if I was real careful and used the cruise control I could get about 26/27

I do deal in a bit of small furniture but we always use the older freelander for that as when the seats fold down it is like a van anyway...... 8)

Not usually darn sarf.. they fetch good money down here.. p'raps the rich(er) wannabes like to look like country types in Tesco's car park.. dunno...

The Defender I was in felt a lot more roomy than the Disco..

I'll stick with me Trooper.. (like a number of the less blinkered farm folk)..

3.1TD and, surprisingly, managed 38mpg average on a trip to N.Wales (250miles)..

Kids weren't impressed.. 50-55mph all the way there

Get roughly 25mpg round town.. hardly use it now though..
