What is wrong with Discos?

They have weak mechanicals, a truly horrendous turning circle and rear windows that open about 3"...

Anyone who uses one seriously will change just about everything apart from body and chassis to make it usable/reliable.

**edit to add** they are more common than Fords too....

They were not all that bad, I have used them as well as many other off roaders and would put them up there when it comes to on and off road use.

If I was off road for more than 40% of the time it would be a Defender if I was going the Landy route again, but they are not as comfortable and capacious.

Sure, they had reliability problems, but without that where would the charm of British made be?

I sold my '88 XJ-S last year to put money toward the house.

It was my fathers but to be honest it was not the economy or the running costs that had me sell it, more the fact that unless you were cruising at 90+ for hours on end (which I did do on a few occasions) it always felt a bit fish out of water.
