Huret Svelto

The Svelto was made in its 1000s, solid and reliable, but as has been said check for wear in the pivots. Usually plenty on Ebay. Still use a few and they have never let me down, always liked the red jockey wheeled ones with ball bearings...

48T front ring maybe a good option

The bike this will replace was running on 79 gear inches. The set-up i'm hoping to achieve will give 3 options: 85 / 72 / 60 gear inches. A contributory reason the first bike was sold was because the gearing didn't suit - i'm hoping the above will offer a little more flexibility & therefore enjoyment.

I to like the ones with the red jockey wheels - these are the early incarnations I assume? Got my ebay watch set and as soon as I see a good one I'll snap it up. I'm happy to wait for a nice example. As you have used and they've not failed you yet gives me confidence that a Svelto is spot on for this build.

O.K, i'm assuming there is indeed a compatibility issue with rear cogs & front rings. Specifically a 2mm pitch difference. I haven't purchased a chain as yet - is there any merit in purchasing something for a 3 speed hub geared bike or do I need something different or this pitch difference going to lead to issues full stop? Any knowledge welcomed...
