When we had a small fleet of fishing boats in norfolk and out of yarmouth,we did have discard but mainly small fish as the stock levels were really low then
But throwing back those cod etc actually brought a lump to my throat,I know how hard fishing is and those porr fisherman throwing all that money away and the poor fish that have died in vain.........
I am just so happy that the big skate didnt die he was older in years than most of us are......
Mate of mine works in R&D in the food industry, apparently Tesco are reckoned to be the worst company to deal with on umpteen levels, other big supermarkets and multinational food manufacturers included! I never shop there unless there's absolutely no other option.
My hate of tescos stems to several years ago when they conned a friend of mine out of his land at stalham in norfolk................
there used to be a lovely country sale ground there, tescos offered him money to sell the land,he said no as he was quite happy and his family had been trading there for almost 200 years.............
They caused him so much trouble with petty court cases brought by "customers" to his sale room etc.etc.that he gave up......
He sold his land to a company that approached him rather than to tescos......and guess what happened.....it was a holding company and within three months development had started on the site......
Now there is a massive tescos which has totally destroyed the town all the local shops have closed and the place is a wreck.....
They have recently applied for planning permission on the town car park at sheringham....they dont even own the bloody car park and it is not for sale..........
I can understand your anger, but as a quick note, it is perfectly legal to apply for PP on land you do not own.
Always seems to me to be an odd thing to do though, as it can be antagonising for the land owner and even if you were in amicable negotiations to buy the land, it would still seem presumptuous.
