I was just taking things apart, cos I like doing that sort of thing... and was removing the headset from my c92/93 clockwork when I discovered that the bearing race isn't enclosed, most of it fell on the (dirty) floor, recovered some of the ball bearings, lost some, the plastic guide that they sit in looked a bit manked.

Need to get some more, anyone got any idea how big they are - look about 2mm but I'm guessing they go up in 1000th's of an inch or something imperial...???

Do I need that plastic guide thingy?? or will they go in free...??

Thanks...

I think headset bearings of the caged/loose form where 5/32".

The cage is just for convenience of installation/maintenance, so definately not a necessary part.

I'm guessing your headset is a 1" threaded ?

They should go in free- losing the plastic bit will allow ye one or two more balls to play with........use grease from a tube around the cup so ye can stick your balls into it, makes it much easier for reassembly.
