Just acquired these from t'bay. Whilst the levers appear to be the Pro ones, the top caps on the cylinders look a little odd - are they missing something maybe?

This is the photo from the auction - they haven't actually arrived yet.

Also, am I right in assuming that the calipers being no.3s are an IS mount for 185mm rotors?

Lastly what sort of age do people think they are - can't find a good Hope brake timeline anywhere - and yed I have tried the search function

the adjusters are missing from the top of the reservoirs :(

the front will run a 185mm disc and the rear a 165mm disc , as for age ? there not the earlist so about 99-ish ?

unless you can still move the adjusters on the top of each reserviour, you'll need new caps. Hope don't make them anymore and when I was looking for some new ones a while back I had no luck anywhere!

Unfortunately you need to be able to turn the adjusters to take pad wear into account, and to set up the brakes if you ever bleed them. If you can't adjust them I'd go back to the seller as they aren't usable in my opinion

Cheers guys, that's annoying :?

They were sold as spares or repair, and I got the pair for £30 - so I can't really complain too much.

I've emailed Hope on the off chance they carry spares. I also have access to a metal lathe at work - so I might be able to whip something up if need be.

Those don't need adjusters; if you look carefully, you will see an 'O' on the caliper, just below the 'HOPE' . This signifies they are O2 (open), and not C2 (closed) brakes.
If you don't want them, you have a good case for a refund, being "not as described".

If this is the case and i can also now make out an O.It could be the reason the adjusters were removed.Undo one of the caps :? the open use a diaphram whereas the closed did not,the last owner may have retro-fitted them himself ,maybe because he couldnt find any open caps :?

Hmm, the mystery deepens.

I should've spotted the O - will they work fine with the pro levers do you think?

They'll be here in a day or two, so we'll see what we shall see :)

No
Well, not with those levers though you might find whatever that modification he has done to them is works fine and you dont need to change anything.

It's a long story...

I think the only difference in the levers is the top cap.
Try them. If the calipers are O, and the levers are O, then they should work. If they don't, or they leak, or the hoses are too short (it costs a lot of money to fit longer hoses!), or whatever, you are entitled to your money back, since they're not what you thought you were buying.

if they don't work then pm me as i have some spares or i could do some kind of lever swap for the older proper ones
