Hi folks,

Looks like me and Mrs Muz will be heading up north for our hols this year. Sometime after Mountain Mayhem, so July I guess.
We'll be doing self-catering somewhere, and I shall be, ahem, taking a bike 8)
Are there any areas in particular in your neck of the woods to head for, both as a break, as well as for some fantastic riding?
We don't do towns or shops, other than for food. More nature lovers, walks etc.

Any local knowledge will be gratefully received, thanks

Mike

P.S. I will be asking the 'other' Yorkshire group the same question, as we've not decided what area to visit yet

Re:

For me it would be the Moors... or maybe the Dales or... there's soooo much fantastic riding up here

What sort of holiday do you have in mind ? few days/a week, if your about the moors on the 18/19th of July we're having a weekender
Bikes, beer & BBQ's your more than welcome to join us.

Why not have a look through our Aftermath Archive.... viewtopic.php?f=31&t=80323
see if there's any where you like the look of.

cheers kaya

Re:

Thanks for the reply,

Will be up there for a week I imagine. I like xc/singletrack/woods kind of riding. Not extreme dh off-a-cliff sort of stuff. I could also be persuaded to bring a road bike instead if there's some mega climbs to test my mettle.
I'll bare those dates in mind

Re:

There are some good climbs in the Moors and Dales (hello again ;-))
But bring and MTB and the moors can just go on and on, no mental DH stuff, it's not Scotland or Wales.
But there are just too many places to recommend.

Let's get this right, what does the misses like?

...
As a base though Rosedale or around there will get you into the heart of it (Moors) or if the Dales takes your fancy then just hit Swaledale or Wensleydale, they're either side of a hill and its nice around there for either style of riding.

Re:

Hi Ben, thanks for your advice buddy

Mrs Muz doesn't cycle or drive so I don't want to take the pi.. But I can do a few 2-3 hr rides.
Sounds like an old mtb it is then 8)
