Here goes.... new job application!

From your post interview report it sounds like it was hard work at times, but I think you have a better chance than the others as you took the role of manager & managed the scenario well (IMHO), the others just seemed like they wanted to argue and it sounds like it turned into a bit of an ego war with them all talking over each other.

Also the Dept Head was willing to help you and not just let you withdraw, so that also goes in your favour (IMHO) as they could have just let you go quiet and ignore you if they felt that you weren't good enough for the job

Fingers crossed for ya!

A palantypist is a speach to text translator. Although I'm fluent at lip reading I have problems trying to work out group discussions.

Wow, thats mega!

I agree what they said, sounds like you did great and stood out there for all the right reasons. being a big company they should take their equal ops seriously and fair. But you never know with this greasy industry what they will do or even if there is a job.

Sounds like a cross between Nathan Barley and some media interview/The Apprentice hell! Not sure if I wanna jump through these hoops. :-/ And wot no dress up?! Too cool or too cliche? ;-)

As for group discussions I loose it totally too, one thing though you were trying to listen not just picking a key word and trying to talk over everyone.

Good luck with it all sounds like you deserve a chance of this. Thanks for the insight. :)

No such luck I'm afraid, the best person won and it wasn't me. The interviewer has asked if I'd like to go back in for some face to face feedback and I've taken her up with that, it is very nice of her to offer this.

I've had a look at the BBC Extend Scheme (their six-month training scheme for people with disabilities) however it pays 18,500 p.a. and I can't simply can't afford to take that much of a pay cut, I won't be able to survive on it.

So..... well there's life left in this old dog (I'm apparently classed as 'old' at 35!!).... just no idea what to do next.

That's a bummer!!

Keep ya chin up fella.

bad luck - still good to be offered personal feedback and hopefully it will help for the future.

Here's hoping!
