Help with modern stuff(Forks)

MJN have you tried the SID's?, scanned a few mags and they say much the same as yourself but haven't found a review yet.

Had a spin on some, fraid I'm a bit old skool xc with forks, they seemed pretty stiff to me but I'm only 70kg,compared with the Leftys I was using last year the damping etc seemed good.

I've had a set of modern RS Revelations, and they performed well. But as the build developed I sold them and got a set of Pace RC40 forks. RS are the Ford Focus of forks, works great, VFM etc. but do you really WANT one?

When I read your first post I immediately thought Pace RC39.
Works well (for me), great retro heritage, and British made too.
Plus, like the frame you can run them with V's if you fancy that.
And service is sorted with Fork English, also on this forum.

Just my 0.02$ and apologies to Focus and RS owners, they really are great products. But after seeing your project Stumpjumper build I have a hard time visualising an RS with that lucious frame. Although if you do go the RS way you'll have them custom painted to match it, right?

Enjoy!!

Thing is Iboc, you can pick up a new SID for over half the price of a DT/Pace fork, all depends on how much kaiser wants to spend.

Not too much of a fan of the look of the DT/Pace boys either, trying to keep the build on the cheaper side too. A pair of SID races in the sales would be ideal.

As for colour coding, it did cross my mind was watching a pair of marzzochi marathons on the bay and all they reallty needed was a paint so not ruling out the 2nd hand market either. Paint and a service :? Not too much aesthetically match the frame so something else to think about.

ps I have a Focus   and I love it

Get the SIDs in white then put the orange SID stickers on,sorted, cheap custom job

I got into the mood reading the "do looks matter" thread I guess, and I still verry much like your white Stumpjumper. But if you don't like Pace fair enough caus' good deals do come up.

Aestetically matching the frame is the Salsa rigid steel forks of course

And did you buy the Focus with your head or you heart?
We have a 206 for getting groceries, but I wanted a P1800 ......

Enjoy!!

Have you looked at Magura, they do some nice XC forks and you can get the lowers in custom colours?

Yeah reckon its the very futuristic look of the pace's, don't think they would go with the Salsa.

As for rigid....... I was tempted but need the bike as a user and have a retro rigid build on the horizon. Very tempted though

And the Focus was definetley the head, my old capri couldn't get me to work reliabley enough and had to go.

p.s. thanks for the Stumpy comments :D its always nice to here :D
