Help with Marin frame numbers please!

Re:

One detail that I should have included was that my frame is steel (chromoly) and has a chrome finish. Looking at the 96 Marin catalog, the frames with the chrome/gloss finish are aluminum. Frames like the Stimson, which look close in geometry and material, seem to have a matte finish.

I remember looking through an 86 catalog and if my memory serves, all of the Marin bikes of that vintage were painted.

My one theory was that maybe in this case the 3 stood for 1993, in which in that case it would visually be a good match for the Team Issue. But, then the 6 would make no sense (shrugs).

Is there anyone :?: the last letter :!: :?: :?: :?:

I don’t think the last digits/numbers will give you any info anyway. It’s the first four or five which give you clues to the model/ year/factory etc, as has been gone into on here before.

I have to check mine. It should be someting like this with a "x" as incognita.: x17xxBxxx

This is really useful. Thanks

My Bear Valley SE frame number is F76GAD**

Which makes it: Fairly built - Palisade Trail frame? - 1996 year - 19" size

Re:

Serial on the bottom of the pedal bearing is AC9011A0176
