As you can see on Stumpy! Help on the year would be cool, i thinks its 97? I've a prod stem on her, but! They have a slopping angle! Do you have to cut the stearer tube to match the angle? how do they fit? Please help!

Cheers

I may consider a swop for a 110mm Ritchey WCS??

You don't need to cut the steer tube at an angle, just cut it to fit the low side. It should have a sloped top cap to go with it. Don't have one - can't help you there, the one I have is staying with it's stem!

You could likely use a normal top cap to apply the right pressure to the headset, tighten the stem clamping bolts, and remove the top cap. It doesn't do anything once the stem clamped on the steer anyway.

Not sure if this helps, but I shimmed mine up a bit further so that it allowed the cap to fit flush with the stem.

Syncros cap

Ah yes I remember this problem. I was actually wanting to use a Syncros cattlehead upside down for negative rise at one stage so I got a reasonably tall headset spacer, one inch height I think, and the angle grinder and file about an hour later I had an wedge shaped spacer that fit either top or bottom as required. Its fiddly but it can work.
Cheers, JR

I just hacksawed then filed a spacer to the correct angle after my origional sloped topcap broke, job sorted :D

Don't forget, Cattleprod is a quill stem, Cattlehead is a threadless. Took me a minute to figure out why you neded a sloped top cap for your Cattleprod, when all my Cattleprods have welded tops. :D
