Hello, folx! I’m hex, pleased to meet you all!
This is my very first post on Retrobikes, so I hope I’m not breaking any rules or annoying anyone.
Just yesterday, I was walking down the street and stumbled upon these old-looking bikes, one carrying the mythical Benotto name and another one much more inconspicuous. Since they’re going for very, very cheap (people don’t really value vintage bikes round these parts) I’d like to know what they are and if they’re worth my time and effort.
The apparent Benotto (with decals I’m not sure I had ever seen before on a B) has a Suntour friction gear selector, sakae custom bar, Weinmann 590 SQ brakes and if memory serves me well a shimano alivio black plastic rear deraileur (I know.)
The white one has Shimano 600 friction shifters and vintage tourney brakes. That’s all I remember. Maybe I’m mixing this one’s rear d with the other one.
I don’t know much of older bikes and as such can’t even pinpoint the age of one. Maybe the way the tube joint covers (is that what they’re called?) are shaped Can lead us somewhere.
I’ll be uploading the pictures.
Please excuse me if I messed something up or lacked on forum etiquette- I’m not the most agile folk to have ever navigated the www.
P. S. Excuse the terrible, ugly, unspecific pictures: I was in quite a hurry. Should I go and take a second look at them?
