It's tip and advice, not parts I need.

I'm building up an old Zaskar, and a couple of issues are causing me problems:

1. U-brake mounts. I've never had a bike with them before so didn't realise they are a bigger diameter than canti's - how should I go about getting my maguras to fit?
I can drill the adapters on the magura evo mountings, but it will very hard to get a slot, so limiting adjustment etc, or do I file two flats down the sides of the posts? This is my preferred option, but obvioulsy this is likely to impact on any re-fitting of the u-brake. The posts are removeable, but have a different thread/pitch to any others I have...

2. The bb plastic cable guide - the hole in the bottom off the shell to bolt it into doesn't seem to be threaded - any tips on how to secure it in place?

2 Get a push in fit cable guide, seen these in lots of bike shops or failing that how about a self tapper?

You'll have to use the Evo mounts upside-down to fit the HS-33's on U brake mounts and you might have a problem getting them to adjust low enough for the brake pads to clear the tyre.
You wont have to file much out of the slots to get them to go on the U brake studs though - five minutes work with a file sorts it.

If you did file two flats on the studs this wouldn't make any difference to fitting a U brake at some future date. It's not as if the brake arms rotate on the frame mounts, they're clamped up solid to these and rotate on their own bushings.

Think I should be OK for clearance from eye-ing it up. Otherwise good points and thanks.

Got to try and find a file to fit in the slot now, as if I can avoid it I'd like to try and avoid altering the frame. Otherwise it's filing flats on the posts and they are replaceable anyway (but maybe ahrd to find...). I guess filing a flat on just the inside may be best as it will move the adapters outwards bya mm or two as well...

Cant help you with your first question,
2.the little plastic cable guide on my cannondale fron the ninteys only had a little peg ,that sits in the hole under the bb shell ,i think its the cable tention holds it in place,does your guide have a little peg or extruded section on it?
when i removed my cables it fell off ,i just put it back when i replaced both cables ,i have had no problems with it moving about
I dont think you want to permanently fixed in place ,i dont think it was ever meant to be
