When you say ‘they’ (didn’t manufacture with internal routing) do you mean the brand you think this was made for?
Top tube routing was a thing as far back as the 1950’s

The logo on the BB shell belongs to Bridgestone:

It might just be the bottom bracket shell in the Bridgestone, but everything else..

have seen a Bridgestone logo on other frame bits in the past

it has made me wonder if the firm a supplier of frame bits as well as cycles

perchance one of our framebuilder members will know...
