Have we forgotten Raleigh Weinmann?

Question is based on the fact that many of us on RB like our Raleighs, but I get slightly irritated by the constant referral to a certain livery as Panasonic (maiden name TI Raleigh).

So, have we forgotten Raleigh Weinmann?

The photo illustrates my point (can't quite workout why it is so grainy though).

I certainly have not forgotten them I have that very picture on the back of a Raleigh catalogue 84' or 85' can't remember which (they had a slightly different picture on the other one). Gorgeous bikes with full (non Campagnolo) Euro equipment all supplied by RJ Chicken at the time I believe, it took me years but I finally got hold of one of those Ofmega mistral chainsets last year off of here superb. I also think that somewhere around I still have one of those jerseys :!: :!: :!:

Still got my track top from '85 - no idea where it was purchased but remember thinking it was the bees knees. Raleigh Weinmann front, rear and arm, Raleigh Simplex on the other arm.

Thanks guys, I knew I could rely on RB'ers . The motivation for the question came up when I was talking to an old timer buddy of mine when he mentioned George Shaw - who he knew really well.

I only met George once when I was at a team (Raleigh-Weinmann) presentation.

Yep, my favourite rider, Phil Bayton, rode for them. Didn't always win but always gave it 110%..................

Weinmann Carerra stuff was OK as was EDCO :D

Phil Bayton eh? I recall he was known as the Staffordshire Engine.

British Pro Cycling's watershed I guess; those mid to late 1980s?

Phil "The Engine" Bayton............. Remember following him in a team car sitting on the door window frame, half out of the car, with the back seat full of spare wheels.

I modeled my road racing technique after his. Namely trying to time trial off the front and being caught in he final 100 yards by someone who could sprint, usually from Viking in the late 70's (no names mentioned) :(
