HAPPY ST.GEORGES DAY.....

It could be something else is at work in this country, something that is destroying us as a people, to what end who knows, but all too many of what was British has now gone, is on it's way out or is not pc enough to exist.

Morris dancing anyone ?

food and dancing :D i used to love going to village fete's as a kid, really nice way to mingle with your nextdoors..............think that's half the trouble now we hardly speak to people in the same street anymore.........what caused this unfriendlyness in our recent culture ??

Well, there was a government policy in the 1980's that acted to break up the traditional communities all in the name of votes. But there is more, recent laws regarding adults coming into contact with children the village fete around here the kids are fenced off so no one who has not paid the CRB stealth tax is not allowed to be near children.

Added to that the tv has taken it's toll what with '' neighbours from hell'' and other rubbish, people live in fear now, fear of everyone.

nothing wrong with celebrating fairy stores..............easter, christmas etc etc are just the same. we, sorry....some celebrate st paddies day to get pissed and pretend to be irish for a day so whats wrong with having an interest in being english.

I always got the impression being English is not politically correct, as lets look at this, we don't celebrate our patron saint's day, our flag is linked to racist sentiments and unlike the other regions we don't have our own parliament.

Then maybe as Brits we should claim them back.

I've never been told I can't celebrate by anyone.

Something that is happening though seeing as the English flag is seen as being unclean, is county flags being dusted off and flown with pride and with that where I live they actually went out and had a flag designed, a flag which is all too common to see fluttering where the red cross once flew.

"Better the pride that resides
In a citizen of the world
Than the pride that divides
When a colourful rag is unfurled"

For the uninitiated, that's lyrics from a Rush song: Territories, from Power Windows
