GT Pantera Original Spec Refurb

You'd originally placed this thread in the For Sale forum

Its a 1996 model, decals are correct and spec is original. I think in 1997 they went over to V's.

Ooooops!

Any idea where I can get a new set from?

Looks like a nice original bike.

I'd try to keep the original decals just polish around them carefully.

That isn't a broadribs sticker on the top of the downtube is it?

Chris.

The decals look alright to me........

Photo's not that clever. Decals are a bit ragged around the edges and there's a couple of scuffs on the 'GT' decal on the side away from the camera.

If I'm going to go through the trouble of getting the bike nice and shiny the current decals will really let down its appearance.

Thanks for the contacts in your post just sent both of them a message.

Going to start the polishing in the morning.......now where did I put my wire brush

.............just kidding :D

Started the polish, my arm is knackered !

Not going to post pics of the frame yet as still needs a few more days work polishing.

The bike originally came with rigid forks, but as I don't like Rigid going to be putting front suspensios on.

Found these in my shed they're Rockshox Indy C's, not too sure of the age of these forks, here's a couple of pics. For the life of me can't remember what bike they came off.

What do you think of using these forks for the build, they're in pretty good condition?

they're a couple of years late, but they'll look the part, and that's what matters imho.

NOS Pantera decals listed on eBay.com....gadro be careful with that frame...it's a 96....make sure the catalog shows polished and not Billet....as the billet is actually a silver ano type finish and if you begin to polish it be prepared for a 12 hour test because that's how long it will take to get all the Billet finish off....it's very tough to remove and leaves the frame in a state of easier oxidation. If it's Billet colored I'd just leave it as it is.

Thanks gm found them

Seems to be a polished frame and just needs to bit more hard work, using 1200 grit first to get surface marks off then finishing with Autosol and Brasso

Seems to be working finished the chainstays but had to have a little go at the STX Cranks. What do you think of the before and after photo's below.

Few marks around the pedals but I'll keep working on them. Anyone know of a source for STX Decals?
