Last weekend I bought this Lightning in Belgium.
It is used a looooooot, look at those cranks!
Never seen so much wear on cranks.
All the other parts are also very worn, but luckely the frame is in great shape! No chain suck, dents or big scratches.
I got some nice parts in the shed so can get building pretty soon.
Really love this one!

Re:

And there was light!
Stripped from those horrible parts and polished with scotchbrite.
Looking better all ready, need to remove some stickers and then ready for building.
Looks like one of the first Lightnings according to the serial number.

Re: GT Lightning > update 28 -08

After a big fight with the stuck BB, giving up several times, I finaly succeeded yesterday. 8)
This will be a period build with some newer touches like the wheelset and forks.
The stem and handlebars are just for now, I will source some Syncross period ones.
Quite happy with the results so far!

Re:

Thanks guys, I think it's glad itself it got some TLC after all these years. But it can't complain to much,it has been ridden much and hard for years in the Ardennes.
The previous owner has worn out and replaced the original forks, brakes, mechs and wheelset.
I can't wait to ride it, it feels pretty light (forgot to weigh it after the BB finally got loose...)
Still have to decide on seatpost, stem and handlebars. I'm leaning towards all Ti, what are period correct Ti parts?
Seatpost Syncros, stem and bars Titec?

Re: GT Lightning > update 28 -08

That's looking really sweet already and i can't wait for the next update so i'm sitting up for this one ;) ..

Re: GT Lightning > update 28 -08

Cheers mate, it is going into another direction allready as I scored some Avid arch Supreme brakes and levers and a wheelset with Middleburn hubs and 517 ceramic rims. 8)
