I've just bought an RTS off this site, and i'm trying to find a bit of info on it. Can anyone help???

At first glance I thought it looked like a 93 RTS-1 (which is what i'm after). Having collected the bike, I noticed that the frame is made of 7000 series alloy. Having followed the debacle on the auction thread, regarding the RTS on ebay that caused such a stir, I remember someone said the the RTS-1 was made of 6061 alloy.

Any ideas the identity of this frame? The frame number is H3H001839.

Thanks in advance, Steve.

not an american frame, the gt stamp at the end of the seat tube is curved, more like an RTS-2

Its an earlier one with the steel rear end 8)

Theres a few on here that are looking for that type :)

It could be an rts 2 but at the end of the day, its an rts and thats what you wanted.....its in good nick too.

Ride it and enjoy it...but dont break it! parts are getting a bit sparce now.

(mines hidden up in the loft with a few other retro friends!!)

I would say it is a 1993 RTS 1 . I had a RTS 2 in 1993 and it had a different front end .

looks to be a mish mash its got a steel rear end with no horst link that would indicate the first RTS and it has the 7005 taiwain front end and it has the piggy back shock from the 1 and team .

I've spoken to the guy I got the bike from, and he says he bought it from a little shop in Diss in late 92/early 93. Basically, he said he got it before Carratti started importing the RTS-1 into the UK in 93.

Whilst it may be a mismatch I don't believe he has done anything to it on this side of the Atlantic. Did GT trial the 7000 series alloy before getting it set up in Taiwan for mass production?

Could be but i doubt it .

When nicolas vouilloz signed for GT , he was waiting for a RTS 1 , but had to do all his training on a RTS 2 while the RTS 1 were being made .
It was spring 1993 , and 50 RTS 2 made it to this side of the pond .

Sounds like Madgetts.....great little shop, its where I got my Pennine from. Mick (Madgett) is a great guy, even races a little.
