GT Bicycles LE meaning

Does anyone know if the LE suffix on some GT's has any meaning? Apologies if this has been discussed before but I've not found any evidence.

Re:

Man, there was me thinking it was lightweight edition.

Or was it lazer etched? No, definitely just decals ;)

I thought it was just the spec of the bikes, LE being higher spec.

Re:

Xizang became LE in 91 after I think a 90 release. Zaskar became LE in 93 after a 91 release. These were for stand alone frames too so irrelevant of component spec. I might go with Lightweight but there's no real mention of it in brochures. I wouldn't have thought it was limited edition as they must have made thousands of Zaskars.

Here is a (not so)conclusive thread :)

Reading through, it seems to depend somewhat on year of production, LE referring to spec on some years and on other models, and to tube specs on the later year Zaskars.
