Ere, what all this about then, everywhere I go off road be it walking or cycling I see knotted bags of dog crap hanging out of trees and bushes, just what is the point bagging the stuff then slinging it to adorn the shrubbery instead of taking it home or dumping it in bins ? Honestly such practices are giving dog owners a bad name and has to be the owners, because the dogs can't do it, but why ?

Why?

Because they still believe in the poo fairy...

went for a walk round fritton woods with the dogs on sunday.i add that we bag and bin because its the thing to do.going round im shocked atthe amount of rubbish everywhere..even a tv was thrown into the bushes, old plastic empty water bottles all over the place...really peed me off it did.its supposed to be a nice walk in the woods.in the end i just got sad at the sight of all the rubbish dumped...

as a footnote when i got back to the carpark i noticed even more plastic bags scattered all around .i did also take note that the carpark have no rubbish bins anywhere to be seen....but this is no excuse as you could just take the rubbish with you......

Dog crap, however objectionable (and illegal) to leave behind is bio degradable.. to take the time to bag it in a non-biodegradable bag and then leave it beggars belief.

The councils need to do their part too though. Providing sufficient bins, and maintaining them, does help.

Some people just won't walk 1/2 a mile to a bin with a bag of crap in their hand.. I just put it in my pocket (bagged) until I get to a bin.

I too have never understood the concept of taking something that is bio-degradable and making it less so?

I hate dog sh*t as much as the next person but I always thought bagging and binning it was going about it the wrong way; Dog Wardens and heavy fines for the inconsiderate b*stards who walk their dogs so they can sh*t where people walk and children play (I actually saw a woman leading her dog into the grounds of Battle Abbey the other day carrying a screwed up carrier bag; who the Hell takes their dog to sh*t on one the Countries most important Historical landmarks  ) would be far more effective!

When I walk our old dog along the local trail I pick hers up with a large Dock leaf and chuck it in the undergrowth where Nature can go about her business and no-one is inconvenienced; simples...

When I was growing up we taught our dogs to only go in the thick bushes so as to keep any mess away from where people are likely to be. I think it was long before the trend to bag and bin became the norm, or at least I certainly don't remember it as being the done thing. To be honest I find the idea as baffling as those above and also fairly disgusting to boot. We had a fair amount of private parkland where I grew up, and had plenty of space for the dogs to do their business where it would be able to biodegrade in its own time. However our private land backed onto a large public park and the border was somewhat vague so the threat of running across a freshly laid bio-mine whilst hurtling through the woods at speed was still something to watch out for, at least in those days they were frequently white and able to be spotted!

The white ones would also be like small rocks or crumble.. they wouldn't be squidgy and get flung up and over everything.

Kibbled dog food.. minging stuff.

The forest near us have a 'stick n flick' policy, far better than chucking a bag into the bushes. We,ve always bagged and binned our dogs mess, or brought it back.

As nasty as a bush bag is, its when people let thier dog shit on the pavement and leave it that sickens me, esp when out with our baby and the pram goes through it :x
