This is something which really annoys me as well.

Near to where I live, we have a nice big country park, called Cosmeston Lakes. This is a very popular place for dog walkers and walkers/runners/horse and bike riders alike. The staff at the lakes recently had a day where they went around the whole of the park, picking up full, discarded dog poo bags. They counted them up at the end and put posters on every single gateway, dog bin and stile they could stick them to.

They found over 300 bags

I'm also lucky enough to live very close to Cardiff Bay, and the Cardiff Bay Barrage. This is where our dog has most of his walks during the week, and it's the complete polar opposite. Instead of dog poo bags everywhere, people just don't bother to clean up the mess! The barrage is an area which is incredibly popular with both locals and tourists, and there is a large grassed area where you will often see kids playing and people sat having picnics during the better weather. There is absolutely no excuse for leaving dog mess lying about in a place like this and it should be picked up and disposed of at all times.

However, with an area like the country park, which has acres and acres of open fields and woodland, I really don't see the benefit of picking up the mess in a poo bag (unless it's on a path) and then disposing of it, even if it's disposed of in the proper bin. Just leave it where it is (so long as it's out of the way), and it'll soon work it's way down into the soil. It's more use there than it is on a rubbish tip somewhere.

Don't even get me started on dog owners.
I'm sat here looking at my beautiful cat, mangled after being mauled by a dog in OUR garden (it somehow dug its way in) which the irresponsible owner allowed off its lead.
It's touch and go whether he lives at the moment. He has 2 massive puncture wounds on his back leg and a drain in one of them to try to prevent infection.
Fingers crossed for the next 48 hours

That makes me cross

Little worse than an irresponsible dog owner; hope your Moggy makes it okay, they're pretty tough!

Oh dear... Sorry to hear that :(

Did the dog owner ever come forward, or do you know who the dog belongs to? I'd be very temped to take action against him/her.

About 15-20 years ago now my grandparents, who live on a farm, received a phonecall in the middle of the night from one of the people who lived in a house at the edge of his land, to say that there was a sheepdog out in his fields attacking his sheep.

He went to his gun cabinet, got out one of his shotguns, and made his way down to the field.

The dog was still there. The dog got shot and killed, AND the farmer who owned the dog compensated my grandad for the 3 lambs that had to be killed as a result of the attack.

I wish things were that simple now!

Awww that is sad and does make me angry.

Hope your cat makes a good comeback!

I dont like bad dog owners, worst of the worst.
(And before you verbally attack me, i say thank you to responsible dog owners).

I always laugh at the people who bag it and throw it, as much as i'd rather they binned it.
Yes you picked up a hot steaming sh*t just to throw it any old place. Pointless.
The points about leaving it to nature are very valid but how do you control where your dog goes?
In the bags though it is easier to spot, I, like many detest riding in dog muck.
There is a path i go along where owners do not care, its probably half a mile long and at any one time there are at least 10-15 dog messes along there. (Fences on both sides). I call it dog sh*t alley.
In a place like that providing a bin would be much more suitable.

And there is also a public park near me where dogs arent allowed off the lead (you'd think im the only person that knew this). Dogs running riot everywhere while the owners stand around chatting to each other then they have the nerve to have a go at you for nearly hitting their dog (although they get some lovely responses).

It's not as difficult as it sounds! Unless he's got no other option, my dog will bizarrely NEVER do his business on a hard surface. He always heads for the bushes or the grass..

I'd like to say that I'm some kind of Dog Whisperer, and that I taught him to do it, but he does it all by himself. He'll be using loo roll next ;)
