Grips - tips and tricks please!!

Interesting little branch out there into hairspray media campaigns! I can't say I remember any of them myself, I never paid that much attention to them I guess

Hairdryer sounds like a good idea. I suppose some of you may remember the adverts for them too...

air compressor is awesome for blowing them off. put nozzle in one end, hand over any holes on the other grip, blast of air and they shoot off in two seconds.

hairspray is great for putting them on, as everyone has said.

but seriously, the be all and end all to all grip problems... lock on grips! one of the best mtb inventions ever. EVER!

I thought about lock ons, but got some good old fashioned rubber slide on raceface jobs instead. Gonna go with the water idea I think :D

Very true, but they don't look as cool to me. Lock-on's work amazingly well, but there's just something in the clean lines of retro grips. 8)

retro grips do look better, and there is more variety, i agree. i have changed or adjusted the bars about 10 times in the last month on the zaskar, for various reasons...lock ons have kept my sanity!

Gt85 or water for me. I had some lovely bars and clear grips that got ruined when I used hair spray, it started a chemical reaction that melted the grips. Weird, but never had the same problem with water/gt85

More of the same

WD40 or washing up liquid for me a bit round the inside of the grip to install

And I push a screwdriver (carefully) down inside a grip and lever the grip away from the bar, lean the bike over and run some WD or washing up liquid down the gap

Remove the screwdriver; bit of a twist and it's off and your grips are reusable and the bars are unscarred

99p chain cleaner spray from Lidl to put on.
Squirt with the nozzle tube shoved under and use brake/gear levers to pull 'em off.
