On the motorbikes grips we always used Elnette for some reason.. probably because that's what Mum had on her dresser

... and not because it had a firm hold...

Never had a firm hold of anything.... :?

I always remember Ellnet championing their 'firm hold' as a selling gimmick,

Gotcha

My memory only serves me well enough to remember that the tin was gold and it worked for what we wanted

A hairdryer is great for getting grips off and on, you can really heat
them up.

Since the missus complained about me nicking hers for sundry
bike/car/plumbing projects I bought a Tescos Value hairdryer for Four
quid !!! Brilliant addition to the toolkit.

I have always used hairspray for mine and again have had the same tin for years. Not used it since I switched to Lock On grips though. It is rusty as hell but still sprays.

I have used WD40, GT85 and fairy liquid - all with similar results i.e. stuck well once dried :D

This was on rubber grips, never had sponge up to now but I haven't fitted them yet. Dads grab on's were fitted with the lube n glue that they came with.

WD :D

much the same really

foam grips ..hairspray

rubber ones..I normally fill a pyrex bowl of hot..not boiling water..leave the grips in the bowl for about 3 or 4 mins..then fit them. The heat makes them bigger for a while and the water lubricates them on, when the grips cool and dry they tighten snuggly

another point of using just water..should I want to take them off..with no adhesive like hairspray they come off easier

for that I normally carefully slide in a flat blade screwdriver under the grips..spray wd40 or gt85..top and bottom ..wriggle them and they come off cleanly
