First off the poll is about riffs from the last 10 years.

Second, you are forgetting (or not listening to) bands like Muse / MGMT / Kasabian / Beck / The Flaming Lips / NIN / The Hives / The Killers / The Enemy / Kings of Leon / Silversun Pickups / Editors / White Stripes / Interpol / Maximo Park / MIA / Beastie Boys.... i could go on. and on.

Dont close your eyes to other sounds & genres, I cant think of anything worse than being limited to one era and refusing to even give anything else a real chance.
I used to think nothing good was ever written after the 70's and was a total Zepp/Stones/Hendrix head, but then I grew up and realised ALL music is amazing!

(Zepp still rule though)

Okay, so name me something good then post 2000?

A closed mind is a stagnating mind. But that's just my opinion.

Of the current crop that Keep It Steel hasn't mentioned yet -
The Kills, the Dead Weather, Bloc Party, Sigur Ros, the Raveonettes, Franz Ferdinand and a handful of outstanding scandinavian bands you won't have heard of.

Bands no longer active but that released good stuff this decade -
Sneaker Pimps, StellaStarr, Kashmir, Cardigans, Garbage

I've bought more new music this decade than in any other - and I've been buying records since 1980.

I love classic stuff like the Stones, Johnny Cash, Zeppelin and the Stooges too - and am very much a child of the goth generation (probably the subculture with the most blinkered vision of all of them) - but closing your mind to new stuff is exactly the kind of fuddy-duddy attitude that rock music was rebelling against in the first place.

I think The Killers first album 'Hot Fuse' is my favourite of the last ten years. Certainly my most played and with some good riffs too. They've gone off the boil since though.

Chilli Peppers are also ace, especially 'Scar Tissue'.

Actually you do have a point there. My tastes aren't 'mainstream' so System of a down fits the bill....Oh I suppose I can throw in Machine Head and DT as well.

Killers, Franz Ferdinand all catchy but I'd never buy one of there records.

RHCP should be better then they are really, they have some very talented band members in the line up!

The Chilis are my favourite band, but only really up to Californication, their early stuff especially the albums Freaky Styley and Mother's Milk are awesome.... Blood Sugar Sex Magik is, in my humble opinion, one of the greatest albums by any band ever. By The Way was too mellow by half, although Stadium Arcadium was a return to form there were some RHCP by numbers songs in there.... Here's my highlight of that album, and in keeping with the rifftastic nature of this thread, it fooking rocks.....
