Great news. Ebay drops seller charges!

Can’t you just use simple delivery , print the label and then drop at post office?

Are you sure this isn’t user error , as even my wife who barely uses eBay (maybe 1 sake every month) is still posting without issue ..
I'm able to use simple delivery now, because they have finally added a system where you can book collection. It's great when it works, but occasionally it doesn't, as above. I can live with one or two hiccups but luckily they've never been on anything worth much money, a £9 set of sockets I don't mind but a £70 pair of XTR shifters I would.
As for posting myself, I couldn't be bothered with the hassle of dusting off my printer, spending £40 on an ink cartridge, then walking (I can't always drive) 40 minutes to a post office where they then charge you even more, or 50 to a sorting office that only opens based on wind direction. That's why I have them collected.
I just had a call with 2 of their customer service representatives who told me I have been doing it wrong and was stupid to think that I would be given money taken from a buyer to post their item to them. If I don't use their label I lose.

Facts as of now;
Most listings I add will not allow anything but simple postage.
The feature now finally works in my favour, 90% of the time.
If you use your own postage label eBay refund the buyer so you are not reimbursed.
EBay apply the shipping using AI/experience/voodoo but there are hiccups, such as assuming a 26" wheel fits in a RM medium parcel.
I have overlooked the 'postage refund to the buyer' issue so that part is user error and I do feel stupid about it.

You need a Zebra label printer. No ink - prints with heat.

Free labels from RM if you sign up for account.

Set your settings so you post once a week and then just do one trip to drop them all.

Out of all the platforms - eBay is still by far the easiest in my opinion.

Some will know this and others might not be interested but the majority of thermal printers use BPA in the paper. I'm sure toner and inks contain nasties but BPA is one I prefer to avoid where possible. Apologies the for the diversion.

The thermal paper could cost more than ink once yourr done.
But instead of one big bill once a year, you've got a dozen smaller ones.

I chose a lazer printer that's been around a decade already, meaning there's a host of pattern cartridges on offer, should give another decade of ink.

Some people refill the cartridges

Not when they are free off Royal Mail

Not sure I'd make that pay for itself.
