Gravel? Don’t laugh! I’m just thinking out loud. Itch scratched

...my sensible XC usually results in me coming off the bike with 35mm tyres, but yes, I regularly do "gravel" with 25mm too. It's not the size of the tyres, but the size of the nuts on the nut riding them.

Are you trying to use a carbon road frame to build a retro mountain bike with bigger wheelsies

Oh no

The clearance is scary. I've got more clearance on my cross check with 2.0s in there but after a good session of shawarma and cans I'm making it rub all over to the point where even a Thai masseuse would say that's a bit much

I don't see a happy ending coming your way

Do you reckon the cf road frame is tough enough to take some offroad hits?

Also, slight offtopic - how tough are old 531 road frames? E.g. if one took a 1960-70s 531 frame, installed 35mm tyres and started riding it offroad (sensible XC, no jumps, etc), what are the chances of it falling apart?
Yeah when I’ve binned this frame I’m likely to put most of this kit onto a 531 frame.
