Geeky hifi

Linn Kans are all but LS35a (without the license and price tag)

I had for a short while, some PMC LB-1 studio monitors. They were the best sounding speaker I have heard in many a year.

I was given (yes, given!) a set of these to repair and sell:

They retailed for around $4000 USD in 1979

apparently my ipod is 'retro'.

according to a 'Yoot'.
That's what a friend said about my Nokia 3310 -- it's only about 6 years old! Is this what happens as the pace of technological change increases? It takes less and less time for something to be considered 'retro'? :?

Back to hi-fi: I checked eBay to discover the going rate for my Denon DRM-750 twin cassette deck.... 99p with an hour to go. It cost me £200 BITD.

LGF, that looks lovely now that it's all lit up. I especially like the explicitly descriptive label on the cassette that's being played... ;) :)

i got into a row with the 'operative' at the tip yesterday cos I tried to rescue another VCR.

it was 'theft' apparently.

Jobsworth. That's what's wrong with my sh*t country i told him.

needless to say, i didn't rescue the video. (yup, I'm still using tapes. )

I agree with you LGF, I miss it all too. Radios with dials that you can fine tune rather than have a garbled digital noise when it's not great reception.

As has been said. The digital backlash has begun. And it started in my front room. I might get a blue plaque for the house. .

I've got a VCR you can 'Rescue' if you like, boxed with all the gubbins/manual and a box of tapes too, I was going to offer it on Freecycle but haven't got around to it yet. PM me if you want it and we'll sort something out.
