Gary Fisher Montare E-Stay - 1991 maybe?

I saw this Fisher at lunchtime, advertised as 'Black Mountain Bike' A couple of hours drive down the coast and I picked it up this afternoon for $60 (about 31 quid). The seller was a teenage lad. His girlfriend's dad had given it him to sell.

A quick wash revealed the paint is pretty good for a 23 year old bike (if a bit dull in a few places). The components are mostly all there - the Deore drivetrain looks original (apart from one non-Deore shifter), as do the brakes, levers, stem, headset, handlebar, RM-20 rims, skewers and DX hubs, and maybe even the Kalloy seatpost. I won't know for sure until I find a '91 spec sheet.

Both tyres are finished, the seat is a sponge, it has new Cannondale resin pedals, bar ends that point North and are wrapped in handlebar tape, and reflective tape on the frame and fork.

I'm looking forward to cleaning this one up. :D

Yes, 1991 and Bill Stevenson's design, the same as the Alpinestar

cool, nice find that will come up well. love the upside down brake levers too! possibly the most difficult way to switch the brakes over to the other sides!
