Garage break in

Get a cheap CCTV system and the theiving cum don't really like carpet grip.nailed in the fence

Carpet grips on the fence is a very neat idea! As for the volts option mentioned earlier, who is to know that a small stray wire was in contact with the door handle...!

And, Mr Von Trumpen Bottom, I think you may have a small typo in your post

That's crap Chris, sorry to hear that. I'd bring forward the plans to rebuild the garage if I were you and build a concrete bunker down the bottom of your garden. In the meantime - big locks though, yup.

They probably tried to ride off on your proflex and decided the back end was knacered ;)

Cheers for the replies guys, the garage is now pretty secure, big locks, coach bolts, up and over door screwed shut. Will be getting an alarm tomorrow, then I'll feel a bit better, sure I'll be up the window at every slight noise tonight though.

The slightly good news is that mine is not the only one that got broken into last night. I knocked on a few doors and found out that a shed over the back and next door also had the same treatment. Looks like it was just kids or opportunists as nothing has gone from theirs although I've since discovered my drill is missing. I'm just worried now that the local scumbags now know what's in my garage.

Anyway really like the carpet gripper idea, got loads of that stuff, very effective  .

.

Thats a crap thing to have happen too you :?

I have bikes, obviously, but i have motorbikes aswell.
I swear by ground anchors, cheap to make and fit.

You will also need a long chain/cable and a quality lock.

The one i made for made current shed was really easy.
Basically weld 3 pieces of scaffold pole into the shape of a capital 'I'.
Dig hole and bury the bottom half in concrete.
Leave to dry
Thread long chain/cable though top tube of capital 'I' and then through all the things you don't want to get stolen, secure with lock, job done

Rubbish! Nothing taken yet the violation still exists.

Opportunists maybe? Or seen anyone odd hanging around lately?

The thing that seems odd to me is, why leave property at the end of the garden?

That sucks! Bloody scum!

Best alarm system ever! Nothing and I mean nothing gets past them. Sooty (black and white pointer cross) has the most amazing hearing and eye's like a hawk! Lulu (black one) kinda just follows Sooty and barks and growls when he does!

they be some lovely looking dogs you got there :) when it comes to protecting whats yours, the law is so backwards.

:x hate thieves.....

my shed is now secure, beefed it up seriously after waking up one day to find the door and contents on the lawn as the bastards tried to saw through the locks on my 2 motor cross bikes, thankfully they didnt get through them.

currently has the hinges fitted with non return bolts, a padlock and 2 mortice type locks, ones a bar that cant be forced plus a metal plate down the door to enforce it.

takes ages to open it with the keys!

though my best bikes are, as always kept indoors.

Takes ages to open it but your stuff is secure. Id rather take that long than have my stuff nicked. When is anyone ever going to be in that much of a rush to have an unsecure garage.

Thanks :D and your not wrong.
I was talking to some cops in our area one day and they were saying they caught a bunch of young idiots that had a crime syndicate. When they raided their house it was full of stolen goods. One other thing they found was a huge map, every house that had a dog on it was marked. When they asked the scum about the map they said they wouldn't rob or go on the property of a house that had a dog, even a little one.
Good to know!

Nana used to tell us 60 years ago she never locked her doors! Her and the family would leave the house to go into town with the doors and windows wide open
What's happened to society when you have to resort to expensive alarm systems, padlocks etc?
