FS 1980's Raleigh Randonneur 531.....

Retro Newbie
Hi bike nerds! (no offence... :D ) My wife wants to sell her beloved Randonneur. It was bought new in around 85 from Battery Cycle Works in Plymouth and used on several tours in France etc. It hasnt seen much use for a few years and she likes the idea of it going to someone who will appreciate its charms.....Now we are ancient we have just bought ourselves two Dawes Discovery 201's (anyone laughs and the Randonneur gets it..!).
It has 21inch frame (22 inch top tube). Sadly the original Brookes saddle was given to bike-mad ex lodger. He might still have it - i will find out.
You can see it needs a good re-furb but it has not been knocked around, seems to be all straight and still works perfectly. Still has spare spokes attached. Not expecting a fortune for it but dont want to give it away as i believe she payed around 800 squid for it back in the stone age.
We are near Exeter so you would need to collect it.
Not sure of this forum's etiquette but i dont mind if folks post on this thread or pm me... whatever.
Comments/offers welcome.

Cheers!

Frot.

Just the kind of thing I'm looking for, you don't have another one that's a bit bigger do you?

Wife or bike..?
No to both, sorry.

Thanks for pm's.....

Well OK - 250 would be fine. I will include the Brooks saddle IF i can get it back. I could dismantle and pack it in cardboard for courier pick up. Nice to think it may have a new, active life somewhere after hanging in our shed for several years!

If you can find the Brooks, I would say 250 is a great price. Looks like it needs some work, but if you're willing to spend a few hundred then you really will have a top tourer.

Just look at the Dawes Galaxy in todays money and you are looking at 1200, for a steel framed bike of less quality!
