Front derailleur frustrations

should also note, a decent, long breaker bar can be a great help. if that doesn't work, a cheater bar can help. if that doesn't work, warm it up. if warming it doesn't work, fire, because it can't be tight if it's liquid. :)

Shimano BB-UN52 BB -- square taper with the 22-spline shell. I have the correct tool -- I'm just struggling to keep everything solid while I apply sufficient pressure.
Are you using anything to keep the spline tool pulled-in against the frame? Under lots of torque they can twist out. You'll want to use a crank bolt and a BIG washer to hold things tight against the frame and then a large spanner (adjustable will suffice) rather than a 1/2" drive ratchet or breaker bar. You may be doing this already?

Sometimes just letting WD40 do it's stuff over about a week works wonders.

With the frame on it's side, try to drown each cup in turn and leave it overnight.
