french bike barra (barralumin )

and that stem..if you google 'titanium quill stems' there are many similar aspects
namely the body is simply welded to a prodruding post which remains 22mm through out
personally i am not keen on a post that extends too much above the line of the body.
and this one does not.
but this stem has plus points to me it is both panto'd and has a classic style clamp.
onza 18...you need to get a team of gnomes
to help with your cleaning  :P

this bike is not for sale !
and no restoration for the moment !

andre boucher was the first manager of jacques Anquetil , ACS (athletic club sottevillais), and maybe Anquetil ride this brand " BARRA" (not this bike)

1951, Anquetil win the "maillot des jeunes"

I was going to say that I'm sure I read somewhere that JA used an aluminium frame when he won the amateur GP de Nations time trial. As Andre Boucher had the shop in Paris, was the manager of the ACS cycling club in Paris (and also ACBB later?) and was also the trainer of JA in his earlier days at least, there may well be some connection. I had also read that the bike JA used was hanging in a Parisian bike shop for quite some time so another possible link.

I think it is a great and historic machine what ever it's provenance turns out to be.

Thanks for posting the photo, it's the first time I've seen it and confirms the 'aluminium' connection.

If it's the handlebar stem you're talking about it is a standard Ambrosio model from the mid 60's. I had several over the years.

In fact, this one appears to be the even later allen-key expander bolt version so definitely not in period with the frame.

the andre boucher bike shop , was located in Sotteville les rouen , near rouen ( i live in rouen ) !

the acs (athletic club sottevillais) was a club in Sotteville les rouen , no paris !

Got some of that wrong then, didn't I  I've always thought his shop was in Paris, oh dear.

I have an article in a '50's Sporting Cyclist magazine about Boucher going out on his Derny with JA and Jean Jourden and possibly Jean Claude Lebaube?

I can't believe I missed this one.

Beautiful!

Could you make the full-sized pictures public on your flickr account?

Stunning, there are some really nice touches on that. Not often I see something that makes me sit up to get a better look - but this did!
