Frames with a 1 14 headtube

Orange Aluminium Elite.
.....and the Aluminum 'O'

Aluminum 'O' 1991 - 93
Aluminum Elite 1992 - 94
1992 One year crossover when both models available. All years "O" and Elite are 1 1/4" headsets. They didn't come in any other size.
Size abandoned in favour of 1 1/8" for the E2 - E8 models that followed. None of the clockwork/ Prestige models used a 1 1/4" headset.

Correctly mentioned too - the Marin Pine Mountain 'Browning Suspension' edition used a 1 1/4" headset (with an ahead type stem)
The only Marin that ever featured a 1 1/4" set-up. Tange Prestige steel too.....the majority of 1 1/4" head tube frames are Aluminum.

As others have mentioned - Fisher pioneered the 1 1/4" 'evolution' threaded size.
Probably lasted 4-5 years as an industry standard before 1 1/8" became the norm..... although there was a 1 1/4" aheadset type..... That's even harder to source than the threaded type. Parts are out there but finding the good stuff can take some patience. Finding a shop with a 1 1/4" threading tool is nigh on impossible. I ended up purchasing probably the last one in the country....cost over £350 (had to buy the park tool specific holder to use it as it wouldn't fit the 1 1/8" I already had!) - just to add an inch of thread to my Manitou steerer. 🤦🏻🤦🏻🤦🏻

Thanks boy o boy some great info there it's seems the thing I have to do is shim the 118 forks to 114 and put the 114 stem onto them and use a 118 headset on my Marin Indian fire trail but the thing I worried about is if it looks odd with the 114 stem sitting on the 118 headset what do you think

Can't find the manitou but that endorphin is really nice looks a lot better with no stickers and the green orange nice again building some stunning bikes keep it up mate

There you go😁

If you could find one - a Chris King Devolution headset would be perfect. This fits the 1 1/4" head tube but allows you to use 1 1/8" threaded steerer forks. Your quill stem would also be a 1 1/8" size.
A 1 1/4" quill stem won't fit into a 1 1/8" steerer because of the internal diameter.
