Found this in my friends shed! picture heavy!

Know nothing about it.

The forks have seized and everything that can rust has done, wheels seem fine.
Is it worth doing anything with? Also what kind of age is it, i have jotted down what i could read from it and here goes!

Brakes, Tektro v's with blm600 levers.
Cranks FCM600
Hubs Acera X HB M290
XT ??? Front mech
Altus Rear
Shifters BLM740 says on both but they dont appear to match???
Rock Shox Judy XC forks, seized with bad paint but minimal pitting i think, can these be fixed? worth fixing?

The frame is a 20.5 so would suit me nicely, the whole thing is rusty but it appears to be only light surface rust

IF the forks are seized, it probably means teh bushing has corroded around the leg and damaged it.
Bit inside like the springs and damper may be still functional. At least as spares. Along with the steerer/crown if not too bad.
May be lucky and nothign wrong with them.*

For selling for a bit of cash
Rear shifter (XT) if it works will be fine.
Purple Ging thing as well.
Cateye and mountings.

rest is low end and rusty so not really worth restoring. See what works though.

*where in E. Yorks are you ? might be able to help you if you're close.

if he wants to get rid cheap, buy it & strip it, clean up all the parts as well as possible then see how it all looks & functions once its been fettled. a lot of the stuff looks like it'll be junk or hack bike worthy at a push. the frame might clean up quite well so its worth a punt if its going cheap.

I reckon '96 / '97, I think '97 was the crossover year when you could get the AX (ally) and GX (steel).

I think the forks and XT shifters were definitely an upgrade - lovely colour too.
