Forum for Anal-Retentive restorers?

Having restored a number of classic sports cars I know how particular some can be about this.

Since some folks are really into the details of a restoration on classic bikes and really are concerned about each part, should there be a forum for these discussions?

In it all kinds of very detailed questions about parts and bikes can be asked to others with the same level of interest and anal retentive-ness.

An example of a question posed could be
> Was the lettering on my 'xx' part red or blue for 1988?

Some find these types of questions tedious others thrive on it.

Take you up on that one....so for a 1996 bike, would the lettering for a Flite Titanium have been red or white? The lettering on the Flite for my '93 is red and it's white on the '97. Both of those are original so I know that's how it was. The '96 however had a mish mash when I got it from the 3rd or so owner. It had a Flite with white lettering and that's what's on there now but I have a spare Flite with red. Anyone know the answer?

2nd question, if I may. I like the look of the Flite SLR but I'm guessing that those came much later. I'll have to track down a pic of the one I saw because there are probably several versions just like there were with Flite Titaniums. But in the meantime, anyone know when Selle Italia started selling the Flite SLR ? Thanks.

If you use this picture as a gospel guide then white

P.S the weight of the saddle will give you a guide to it's age
early are ~180g then they increase up to ~220g for the later years. Rails, plastic and probably the padding where thickened for durability.

As to which weight = which year I don't know. But the year of manufacture is stamped on the bottom if I remember correctly.

do think we all include a bit of that in our builds
some do a cat spec build some like me do a lust/cost build
bit like classic motorcycles (my other great waste of time and money)
do a bay search for NOS lc yam bits ,its scary the lengths folk go to

but like most this is a broad church and theres room for anoraks too
united in the common bond of old bicycles

No it is now called IVMTB. Very exclusive club

Also I believe the color of the lettering on the Flite saddles had to do with which rails the saddle had. Some had Titanium, some Vanadium. Some Manganese. Then there was also an Alps version.
