Hi there ... up for sale is my nice black Kona Hot, which I think is a 1998. Has awesome downtube work which is vertically taller at headtube, transitions to wides at the BB. Build as is w/o pedals is 23.4 lbs.
Frame is made in USA 853 Reynolds steel, in good shape from dry climate- no cracks, dents or welds. Black on black, this bike rides even better than it looks. Many posts here and at MTBR call the Kona Hot the best riding hardtail frame they have ever ridden, and I'd agree. Used mostly as dirt commuter, but I gotta thin the herd.
Price is $900/best offer, plus boxing and shipping.
Build is Fox Vanilla 125 RLC fork (set at 100mm, w/ 80 and 125mm springs included so you can drop it to 80mm for racy feel), UST compatible Crossmaxes, 8-speed XTR drivetrain/v-brakes, Race Face Turbine LP cranks, Kooka stem/seatpost.
Standover is ~30", center of bb-top tube is 17", center to Salsa seat binder is 19", but I'll call it a medium. I can send measurements if needed.
I have a post at MTBR, just wanted to make sure you folks saw it. I'm in San Diego, CA, and can box/ship it professionally if you are interested. I know theses are newer wheels/fork, but I can swap wheels for second gen Mavic Crossmax, which were contemporary/period correct. Several other extra goodies (including extra 8-speed XTR cassette and ceramic brake pads) listed at MTBR classified (email me for link).
