Football hooligans.

No you are right Neil, I gave a bad example.

If it has just gone off on the inside or is near the limit, then I think you will be ok, or if it is your spare, and they believe you, you could possibly get away with more.

Even then, if it is down to the wire you are toast I suppose in 99% of occasions.

In a van I had just bought I got pulled for a tail lamp and then cautioned about a tyre. Anything more and I am sure they would have taken further action, but they didn't do a roadside MOT.

On the other hand I have been in a mate's car when he was pulled speeding to get to the off license and he was cheeky, saying he was doing maybe 35 when they asked him.

They pulled his car to bits and he ended up having to trailer it home.

The Police are just like anyone else, they like a bit of respect.

On the same vein....

I got a telling off from mr plod because I had pulled up on yellow lines to wait for my wife who was indoors and dragging her heels :x

He said,in a very sarcastic manner,"why are you arked on yellow lines ?"

when I pointed out that I wasnt parked,my engine was running so I was clearly waiting, but told him he was technically parked as he had vacated his vehicle and switched his engine off.....and that he had two wheels on the pavement,he was not best pleaed but just got in his car and drove off.......

But two weeks later I got pulled up in the next town for driving in a bus lane......and they gave me a ticket too....karma I suppose

The parking regulations don't apply to Police vehicles.

It never pays to knock plod.

I got into a ruck with a Traffic warden lately because my mum is disabled and could not find her badge, and he ticketed the vehicle whilst she was looking for it, (I had gone into the bank).

He was in the wrong, and the appeal was allowed.

I do my banking once a week on a Friday usually and I have taken to carrying an empty cardboard box into the bank and back to the car so I can use the loading bay.

I first did that when I had seen one of them tapping me into their machine so I went into Argos and bought a TV. Took it back a few days later and saved myself a ticket.

Just take a couple of empty boxes in a carrier back and assemble before returning to vehicle.

:)
