Firefox problems

Hi, for the last couple of weeks Mozilla Firefox has been playing up on my pc.
It loads but then nothing works, the cursor is flashing in the search box but you cant type anything in fact the only thing that does work is cross in the top right corner to close it.
Just uninstalled it a few minutes ago, downloaded it again and then reinstalled it but still the same.
Any ideas?

mine randomly freezes, but it might not be Firefox but the OS (MintLinux in my case).

Have you tried Google Chrome? It has a few quirks but has been very good so far.

You might need to junk your profile, I had to go through this a few months back when Firefox started to take forever to load images on Websites, the instructions are easy enough to find on T'Interweb and you can re-import your bookmarks once you are happy that your new profile works OK.

Yes Chris its on Xp, LGF im using chrome at the moment and it seems ok but would like to get firefox working again.

Does it still not work if you log off and try to run it as another user?

Set up another user account. Really, it's better to have more than one account with XP; you may need to log in using the default account if you have to fix something.

Create another account, and see if Firefox still refuses to start when you log in with it.

Control Panel > Classic View > Users

(never did get on with XP "Teletubbies" view)

Which flavour? Are you up to date? Assuming that's all OK, type this into a terminal

NSPR_LOG_MODULES=all:5 firefox

tell us what happens when it crashes.
