Finding local trails

I just go out and ride, Ive found miles of trails over the years just by trial and error, you'll hit some dead ends but you'll also find some treasures 8)

OR go ask in a 'real' bike shop, see what secrets the locals know.

I think the LBS used to be a quality place but has been dumbed down by mass marketing.. still does a few nice BMX's but the rest is hybrid Claud Butler, pretty much..

Old chap in there seemed shocked that I asked for local frame repair chaps and saddened that he couldn't help me (used to know a chap that he lost touch with a few years back due to no call for it)..
He had a really cool, really old, mini road bike.. was about 18" from the floor to the top of the stem.. so perhaps he has a little retro spirit lurking in the shadows - maybe servicing an old bike or 2 would rekindle the flame. . ;)

I digress...

Will scour my OS map.. and google earth.. and spin some pedals (now that'd be a first  )

as kaiser said i said , where theres trees theres trails
take a small saw and some secateurs with you , if your used to
tracking animals its wont be hard for you to find something
then its up to you as curator for the up keep

This is closest I guess...

Stand with a big bag of sweets and wait for any kids on Kona's to ride past, then ask them where they ride. If not follow them.

Both approaches may result in some tough questioning from the law.

From the County Council:

Might be some stuff in there about off-road routes, country parks etc. which could be useful.

Dunno why I've not stumbled across that before.. :?

Looks like there's only really got the Gipping Valley River Path from Stow to Ipswich on the doorstep.. officially..

Don't see many cyclists about the place (except for the kids on their BMX's - the new skate park has just opened)...
