Famous people we know ???

I was in sixth form with the postman from Eastenders (Masood)
Used to know the guitarist from Hawkwind when he played in a couple of previous bands in Coventry.
Knew Dave (Militant Tendency) Nellist a bit in my naive student days, - a genuine and honorable bloke, whatever his politics are.

When I was a student I used to go round for Sunday lunch quite regularly with Stephen Hawking (him off the Simpsons, etc.) and his family. I was good friends with his eldest son, walking the Pennine Way with him (Robert, not Stephen), being in the same rowing crew, etc.

The bass player from the Grateful Dead, Phil Lesh, is a pal of mine...

Cool.
There is not a day goes by I don't think about Pigpen, and that is going wayyyyyyyyy back. Got turned on to them when I bought a bootleg of Joplin which had a version of Lovelight with one of the finest pieces of guitar playing I have ever heard. Jerry could project his soul. Sadly missed, but so much of them all is still here in the music.

My grandfather was a great friend of mine, and fairly well known in his field. I knew Larkin as a child, as my uncle worked at Hull University and was best friends with him.

I guess Rio Ferdinand is fairly well known, and he calls me unc. Just his cousin in law actually. Known him since he was a kid though, and I taught him chess so I take credit for his defensive nouse!

Funny how much we all have in common here, someone mentioned getting a cuppa from Liam Gallagher, well I went to the shop and got Cornettos for Noel and Meg, and we were say out on a roof terrace opposite a certain Tina Turner!

dunno if your taking the piss or not

but a good story nontheless

No piss taking here. Honest. It was good fun walking into the canteen at CERN on a tourist visit to see a crowd of people round him, and hearing his computer voice say "Hello Grahame" as I walked past with a casual "Hi Stephen".

Who else? We (wifey and I) know Marc Quinn (the Blood-head artist), 'cos he used to be her baby-sitter when she was a child. Her parents and his parents are best friends. Did you know his dad is a well-known physicist and before he retired, he was the nominal owner of the kilogram (the reference one held in Paris).

Several quite well known classical musicians are good friends, but they are only really famous in their own field.

My mates sister is Suranne Jones .. the bird who used to be in Corrie & is now in Scott & Bailey

Tried getting into her when we were both about 18-19.. didnt work

I had Sunday lunch at Cate Blanchett's house a few weeks ago. Lovely person but her roast tatties were poor.
