I've always had a winter bike for the road just because road salt destroys anything decent, although I don't have a mudguarded bike, just an old race bike(DeRosa Planet) and still use good, old parts on it cos they last(9spd Dura Ace).
Never had a winter MTB till this year,I don't mind getting bikes filthy I'm just not very good at getting round to cleaning them, cables seize really fast in winter and I don't want the Yo rusting away so I've gone for a singlespeed with hydraulic disc brakes, loads of mud room,no cables,no gears to slip and no chainsuck.Gives the legs a good workout to!

It's not only the bikes. I'm fair weather too. (unless going to work  ) Other wise no more pissing about getting soaked, cold & getting up far too early for me.

me personally...cant stand riding in bad weather since i got caught in the 87 gales ..utterly hate it.....

Wow, I remember those so well.. My Mum drove me and my bro to school; we were the only ones there!!!

To be fair, nothing worse than a gusty wind when you're riding. Headwind, no problemo; sidewind, doable.. But gusty..

I rode the 87 storm. It was great when it was a following wind. Then it changed direction. And blow me in to a ditch :(
Ride to work or public transport. No competition. cycle it

i was on a new road that was just built(breydon bridge ...was the first to cycle it one way and get blown back tuther.....at 30 ph with no pedaling)..all i had on was light riding gear ......got very cold very quick.....had to take shelter in a riot/incident van whilst my bike had to be tethered to a lamp post to stop it getting blown away..since then never again. :x

If I'm out on the P7 and I happen to get caught in a heavy downpour, I finish the ride but as soon as I'm home the bike gets cleaned and dried off before I do !!! Sad....but I can't help it !!!
