F1 merry go round

Watched the Monaco race for the first time in years and saw my old boss, Mansour Ojjeh...

LGF, Did you work for TAG audio or were you more focussed on the missile sales part of the business!

That's a pointless agreement. Ferrari could romp away in 2013 then be behind Caterham in 2014 when the new engine, KERS, aero and chassis formula is introduced and everyone has to bin years of V8 related experience and start afresh.

True, but if it is true, either side has the option to exercise the agreement

.....a normally impeccable source close to Ferrari says the team only want a one-year driver in 2013, as they have a pre-contract with Vettel for 2014.

This pre-contract, the source says, is two-way - ie, either party can exercise it - and is performance-related. Ferrari need to be at least third in the constructors' championship at a specific stage of next season to bring it into effect.

But then again, Red Bull have rebutted this, saying SV is contracted to end 2014.

The point is, that you should never too heavily believe F1 driver/team rumours, until the bloke is sat in the car (or not sat in the car, as the case may be)

DiResta has already been linked to Mercedes as a replacement for Shuey with both Mercedes and Ferrari "expressing an interest" in him.

I don't think Alonso will put up with a potential rival in the nest at Ferrari so I'd assume as long as Alonso stays at Ferrari any driver going to join him will only be going as a "second driver". That makes me suspect that Webber won't move to Ferrari, he's been there, done that and spat his dummy.

Of all the F1 teams Ferrari is the most politically motivated internally and any drive that goes there to fill the second spot is going to have a rough time.

If Alonso were to leave Ferrari (can't see that happening TBH) that would throw a very different light on things.

If Schuey continues next season then maybe DiResta will go to Ferrari but he'd have to be prepared for a battle inside the team or end up as another Massa, Barichello, Irvine, Mansell - playing second fiddle and getting a fraction of the resources that the lead driver gets.

I think Hamilton will stay at McLaren if he has the choice, he's happy there and the team suits him. Button on the other hand... I think he may be better off at RBR if the opportunity arose but he's tied into a contract. McLaren have promised to put some resources his way to sort out the issues he's having with the car but if they can't sort it he's not going to be happy staying there.

Rarely in their history have Ferrari not had a clearly defined number one driver, so I think anyone going there will know what's coming before they even read the cheque, sorry, job description.

I don't think any team can afford to think like that anymore if they want the constructors title.
Whilst they may have a prefered driver if they want the points they'll need the competition.

Everyone (media wide... it sells papers, cloumn inches and mouse click traffic) seems to get hung up on the idea of Lewis leaving Mclaren for Ferrari or Red Bull, but conveniently seems to overlook the question of who would be suitable to replace him....

It was the tiny audio side. Just after it was all put into administration I was over his house on lake geneva finishing off the massive install at his house. The only place I've seen a picasso outside an art gallery. The garage was massive but no cars as the house was being finished. Nice guy once he got to know you - until that point you were just a minion. Once he realized we were about to be kicked out of work he was a lot nicer. He apologized for being late that day as his plane had been struck by lightning as he was landing...! I had a good few days in geneva.

This all came in the recent dark days of F1 when sponcers were waivering and so were the viewing figures. If Hamilton had joined bit earlier we might have kept our jobs.

Fourth place in Monaco . And yet speak in Formula 1 all over (24) Sebastian Vettel .

Reason for the excitement around our double World Champion: A media report, Vettel had signed a pre-contract with Ferrari for the start of the season 2014th New rumors of a change from Red Bull to the Red Italians!

Surprise: If Vettel wanted, he could ...

PAGE revealed: He actually has a secret exit clause in his Red Bull contract!

Which runs until the end of 2014, bringing Vettel 15 million per year salary. But just one year before he can leave the Ösi racing team.

Red Bull boss Helmut Marko confirmed the clause to IMAGE-demand: "2013 is fixed for us. For 2014 there is a performance-related clause in his contract - for him and for the team. "

Says: It depends on the rankings at the World Cup 2013th If Vettel and Red Bull grease in the drivers or constructors championship, he could go!.
