F1 cars get even uglier in 2010

I thought the whole purpose of a F1 car was to go bloody fast not look good !

Better paint job would sort the Sauber otherwise they all look fit for purpose

I think they all look really good - especially the new Yorkshire F1 (above) - never been in a wind tunnel you know... all CFD.

problem is that the car is still an artists impression- they don't actually have a real one yet.

Well realistically the Virgin car will hardly be troubling Ferrari, but I'd like to bet it is the fastest of the newbies (and possibly faster than Toro Rosso). Two decent pedallers in Glock and Di Grassi...

Read something yesterday that the new teams are allowed to miss the first 3 races (presumably to have more time to be competitive given they're new and all that). The article didn't explain what must be a new points system for 2010 - how could u miss the first 3 races and still have a chance at the championship unless there's a "throw out your worst 3 finishes" or something like that in the new points system. Anyone know?

Didn't know they had to race... do they gain extra development track time ? Otherwise they may as well race and use it to develop the car if they don't.
Well at least the free practice and first qualifying session, since they'll probably not get past that... (assuming they still have to be within some % of the fastest time to enter the race)

Yeah, this is a strange one... FIA are now saying that any team that misses races will be dealt with severely...

Basically FIA have screwed up. I think their were 12 new team applications that were vetted by the FIA. Understandably, the number one question on the application form was "Do you have a squillion quid to run an F1 team?" Those that answered "yes" should then have been subject to some sort of due diligence.

Instead the FIA carved up the applications to Manor (OK), Lotus (seemingly OK), US F1 (possibly skint) and Campos (definitely skint and owing money to Dallara who built the car for them!)

Meanwhile, some Serbian bloke who had enough cash to buy the 2010 Toyota facilities and design sits on the sidelines... He's even on about shipping all his gear to Bahrain for the first race in the expectation one of the new teams fails to turn up...

I've said it before and I'll say it again "only in F1...."
