Exage Mountain thumbies mount

Hi! Long time reader, first time poster!

I came across an old, crusty Benotto MTB that I picked up. It came with a full Exage Mountain groupset and the thumb shifters are in great working order BUT they are the kind that mount onto the brake levers and the levers were in really bad condition. They are the Type A on the manual here: https://manualzz.com/doc/53871390/shimano-sl-m452-shifting-lever-service-instructions

I would LOVE to use the thumbies on my commuter bike but can't figure out how I would mount them. The bottom part comes off but in doing so, so does the barrel adjuster. Have I missed a spare part I should be looking for or am I just out of luck with these?

Thanks for any tips or ideas! IMG_5081.JPG IMG_5082.JPG

They share the same lever style mount as on mountain LX..... Useless without sadly.

Pretty sure you could put out a wanted ad, I may actually have some somewhere too 🤔

Yeah, it's the same style of mount. Thanks for the offer but I'll check the local bike yard first. :)

Cheers!
